  • 1. Can I install the Garage Gator on a sloped ceiling?
     

    No. The Garage Gator must be mounted to a level ceiling area at every point. You can, however, install a beam that runs parallel to the floor and install the Garage Gator on the beam.

  • 2. What do I need to check before starting the install of the Garage Gator?
     

    Before attempting installation, read the owner’s manual thoroughly. Cautiously inspect the mounting area to be sure it is adequate to safely install the model you have selected. Also, confirm the availability of an 110-volt grounded outlet. Be sure to wear protective gear such as safety glasses, and follow all precautions regarding electrical and ladder safety.

  • 3. How far does the Garage Gator motorized unit hang down from the ceiling when installed and fully raised?
     

    The GG8220 model, when installed and the lift bar is fully raised, will hang down approximately 14” from the ceiling.

    If the platform accessory is added instead of the hook bar, the GG8220PL model will hang down approx. 50” from the ceiling when the platform is fully raised.

    The GG4125 model, when installed and the lift bar is fully raised, will hang down approximately 12” from the ceiling.

    The GG4125PL model will hang down approximately 48” from the ceiling when the platform is fully raised.

  • 4. How much space is required to install the Garage Gator GG8220?
     

    The GG8220 needs a minimum ceiling height of 8’ and at least a 9’ x 6’ unobstructed area in which to raise and lower the unit. This will allow 4’ of space under the platform.

  • 5. How long an extension cord can I use with the Garage Gator?
     

    It is recommended that an electrical cord of 10’ or shorter be used to optimize the operation of the Garage Gator and to prevent any malfunctions.

  • 6. Once installed, how do I make the bike bar level?
     

       

    • Lower the unit all the way down. Be careful not to lower so much it reverses direction.
    • Once lowered, raise the cables with the bike bar attached, and manually guide the cable that hangs straight down from the motor so that it spools side to side evenly on the spool.
    • Please Note: when the unit is packaged, the cabling is wound very tightly around the spools. When the plastic strapping is cut, the cable tends to go every which way, causing it to become uneven on the spool.

  • 8. How much space is required to install the Garage Gator GG8220PL?
     

    The GG8220PL needs a minimum ceiling height of 8’ and at least a 9’ x 4’ unobstructed area in which to raise and lower the unit. This will allow 5’ of space for you to walk under the platform.

  • 1. Does the GGSP36 come with a motor?
     

    No. The GGSP36 is a platform only, and is sold as an accessory. The GG8220 will need to be purchased, or you can use it with your existing Garage Gator 220 lift.

  • 2. Does the GGSP33 come with a motor?
     

    No, the GGSP33 is sold as an accessory.
    The GG4125 or GG8220 will need to be purchased, or you can use a preexisting Garage Gator lift system in your home in order to utilize the GGSP33.

  • 3. How big are the platforms?
     

    The GGSP36 is 3’ x 6’ and hangs down 36” when fully raised.
    The GGSP33 is 3’ x 3’ and hangs down 36” when fully raised.

  • 4. Which models can I use the platform with?
     

    The GG8220 model will use the GGSP36 platform.
    The GG4125 will use the GGSP33 platform.

    You can also buy the unit/platform combo by ordering the GG4125PL or the GG8220PL.

  • 5. Can I use the bike bar and platform together?
     

    Yes, you can use the bike/hook bar along with the platform, depending on the Garage Gator model.

    • The GG8220 will allow the use of the GGSP33 platform by hanging it directly from the bike/hook bar. You need to ensure that your weight is distributed evenly.
    • When using the GGSP36 platform with the GG8220, it will need to take the place of the bike/hook bar. They cannot be used together.
    • The GG4125 can only use the GGSP33 or the bike/hook bar. They cannot be used together.

  • 1. What is the red coloring on the cables that wind up on my spool?
     

    This is painted on the cables to indicate that you are near the end of the spool cable length.

  • 2. How do I purchase repair or replacement parts for my Garage Gator product?
     

    Call V-Bro Consumer Connection toll free at 1–888–GATOR–08. Trained V-Bro representatives will arrange to supply you with required parts. Trained service representatives are available Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM Eastern Time (subject to holidays).

  • 3. What safety features are on the Garage Gator?
     

    The Garage Gator is engineered and manufactured to be as safe to install and operate as possible. Two key safety features are the upper limit switch, which prevents upward movement of the hook bar once the uppermost travel point is reached, and the key lock hand control unit, which prevents the unit from operating unless the key is switched to the "ON" position.

  • 4. Can I use PayPal from Canada to pay for my Garage Gator?
     

    Unfortunately, no. You can use PayPal with a US account. However, orders will not be processed from Canada.

  • 5. What type of information is required for the Garage Gator?
     

    Very little! Periodically check the condition of the electrical cords, plugs, and controls. Also, periodically check to be sure the motor is properly attached to its mounting plate and that all bolts are tight.

  • 8. May I return my Garage Gator? What is your company's return policy?
     

    You may return your Garage Gator for credit within 30 days of the original purchase date. The cost of the Garage Gator will be credited less the shipping charges. You must first receive a return authorization, return the shipment in its original box, and prepay the freight back to V-Bro Products, LLC.
